Committed to improving the airport experience for travellers young and old, we developed plans for a children’s play area to complete the final stage of our enhanced departures lounge.

The fully certified play area aims to provide a safe and inviting space for children in the departures area with a focus on educating young travellers passing through our terminal.

With 230 square metres of additional space opened up in our refurbished departures area we saw an opportunity to create a more enjoyable environment for children with an emphasis on showcasing Tasmania’s natural flora and fauna.

The play area will include digital screens with interactive educational games, interesting facts and figures about native Tasmanian wildlife and animal sculptures along with a mural by local Tasmanian artist RJ Alexander that celebrate the state’s natural environment.

The play area is expected to be installed in the Gate 6 area of the departures lounge by the end of April 2019, just in time to be enjoyed over the Easter holidays.
